Our Founder and Program

The Kitchen of Love Distribution Center was founded by Marlene Trice of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  As an active community member, Marlene Trice recognized that the needs of local residents needed to be met. Over twenty years ago, Marlene Trice began her mission by catering local community events, grocery shopping for elderly residents, and taking them to medical appointments on her days off from work.  She has been recognized by many community leaders.  Her most recent award was the Andrus Award for Community Service that she received in 2013.

The Kitchen of Love provides free groceries to more than 500 Philadlephia residents.  This program was established six years ago.  And has grown since the onset of the program.  As a community program for many years, many of the participants depend on the weekly food distributions.

Every Thursday can foods and meat are ditributed to more than 500 resdents.  Every Friday fresh fruits and vegetables are distributed.  Every first Thursday of the month, seniors receive a box filled with food.

There is a lengthy waiting list because of the popularity and need of the program.  It would be our dream to service every resident in need.

During the holiday season, Kitchen of Love provides hot meals and extra support to help.  During Thanksgiving, we feed seniors who do not have a place to go and provide each family with a 20lb turkey.  During Christmas, we collect and distribute toys for children in families with needs.
